Mission & Vision
My Mission
To build a collaborative vision of the future of education through stakeholder collaboration.
My Vision
Accessible, equitable and responsive education.
It is my fundamental belief that education is opportunity. In our community, that opportunity must be accessible
to all regardless of background or ability – every student should have a chance. And, that chance should
be equitable. Further, education is only opportunity when it is responsive to society’s ever-changing
needs. Our students deserve an opportunity to have the education of tomorrow not of yesterday.
It is vitally important that all stakeholders in the process are given voice – it will be my job to hear those
voices – the voices of students, parents and teachers. We must hear from students where they want
and need to go so that we can ensure that their education is preparing them for that path. We must
hear the concerns and interests of parents – they are the voice of our communities. We must hear from teachers what they are experiencing and how they feel they can best serve the rapidly changing needs in the classroom. When stakeholders are given voice, they are more invested in the vision.
In order to build a collaborative vision of accessible, equitable, responsive education, it is necessary to
bring those voices together, to evaluate ideas and to think critically about the options. An important piece of the puzzle is creativity – the willingness to follow new paths. Throughout the process of guiding and shaping public education in our community, we need to be accountable for our decisions and we need to assess the impact of those decisions with definable measures of outcome. I am looking forward to playing my part in bringing this vision to life.
Wendy is a fighter. She takes ownership of issues, develops consensus and doesn’t give up until the job is done. She is generous with her time and has always put community interests ahead of her own. Students and parents within the OCDSB will benefit from her passion, integrity and her energy.
